10 March 2014

CF AAE

So I'm working towards this award. It's actually an Award of Aerobic Excellence. It's a multi-tiered system that gets you to log all the aerobic exercises you do and gives you points for each. In order to get the first tier of the award, you need 2000 points within 24 months. I've started this process in August of 2012, and to date I only have 1000 points. Which means I only have a few months to finish the other half.

So, in all my smartness, I've decided that Lent would be the best time to kick my aerobic-ness into gear. I've told myself that I will do -at a minimum- 10 points per day, for 40 days. I think that's fairly reasonable. There are a number of ways I can achieve the 10 points:

Activity Performance Standard Value

  • Swimming 400 meters 1 unit
  • Jogging 1 kilometer 1 unit
  • Snowshoeing 1.5 kilometers 1 unit
  • Cross-country Skiing 1.5 kilometers 1 unit
  • Skating (ice and roller) 1.5 kilometers 1 unit
  • Walking 3 kilometers 1 unit
  • Aerobic classes 10 minutes 1 unit
  • Cycling and Stationary cycling 3 kilometers or 7 minutes 1 unit
  • Rowing (canoeing/ kayaking) 500 meters or 7 minutes 1 unit
  • Stationary rowing 500 meters or 7 minute 1 unit
  • Cross-country skiing machine 1.5 kilometers 1 unit
  • Stair climbing 7 minutes 1 unit
  • Rope skipping 7 minutes 1 unit
  • Martial arts 7 minutes 1 unit

So, since I own a rower, I've done much of this already on the it, however, I've also now started doing quite a bit of skipping to get better at double-unders. I've now managed 41 in a row, only after 3 20-30 minute sessions. I'll be continuing these throughout Lent as well.

Thus, after the 40 days, I'll have completed, at a minimum, 400 points. Which means I'll be well on my way to completing that 1000 before the end of August 2014. So far, since Thursday 6 March I've completed 53 points. So I'll just have to keep on going!

I'll try and make an update of this at the end of Lent to see how I did.

-Another great day
